When EPB set out to build a new headquarters in Chattanooga, it wanted to make a bold statement. And, we don’t just mean bold as in big, like one might guess by the 7-story structure that houses more than 140,000 square-feet of work and community space. As a leading provider and educator of sustainable energy in Tennessee, the organization was committed to sustainable building and design for their new headquarters. Selecting the appropriate building material was a first step. While the project team knew they could get natural stone from a less expensive source in China, part of the sustainable design included reducing latent energy costs, and the environmental impact of transportation. Cold Spring Granite® was selected to provide Radiant Red® granite extracted and fabricated in close proximity of the building site.
