Opportunity

On June 6, 1944, 150,000 Allied soldiers clambered aboard heaving craft and braved six-foot swells, waves of machine gun fire, and more than millions mines to claim a stretch of sand at a place called Normandy, France. The D-Day Memorial, erected in Bedford Virginia - the community that suffered the country’s severest per capital losses on D-Day - exists in tribute to honor the courage, fidelity, and sacrifice of the service men and women that participating in the largest land, sea, and air operation in history.
