Carving a Nation's History Into Stone
The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Nation commissioned renowned artist and tribal member, Corwin "Corky" Clairmont, to design a tribute to the men and women who lost their lives in service to the United States. Located in Pablo, Montana, the war memorial also honors tribal history and culture.
Corky's sketches, intricate and symbolic, required exacting replication to faithfully render the story in stone. We fabricated a series of shadowing and colors, eventually transferring the drawings onto Mesabi Black stone.
Working throughout with our graphic designers, production team and project managers, Corky and our artisans completed the ambitious project in record time.
