Sandblasted Markers
From thousands of years ago, people were memorialized with symbols carved on rocks. It wasn't until recent history, however, that markings have become more sophisticated. From flowers, religious symbols, emblems, flags, angels, natural scenery, and portraits, Royal Melrose Granites designers can replicate any desired pattern or artwork reflecting the lifestyles of the memorialized on its sandblast markers.
Letters are sandblasted in eight different styles. Patterns are flat-carved, where polished areas are "frosted" off and outlined by a v-sunk line, or shape-carved, a process that shows depth and dimension. Sandblasting brings out the character of the granite, contrasting shades of colors and heightening patterns of the stone to achieve an enduring, esthetic effect.
